From our perspective, building a custom home is simple and straightforward. We’ve been doing it for years and it’s almost second nature to us. For homeowners having never gone through the custom home building process, it can be a bit daunting. Our goal is to make designing and building your custom home an enjoyable experience.  An experience you would do again and recommend to others.

If you ask someone who has recently built a custom home, you’re likely to hear it was not an enjoyable experience. Perhaps four out of ten people will say their experience was “fair”, and only one out of ten will say their experience was “great”. Our goal is not only to deliver your custom dream home but to also deliver a great building experience.

There are few things as personal as your home. It’s an extension of who you are. It’s the place you raise your family, dream your dreams, and live them out to the fullest. Making the choice to build a custom home can be one of life’s most rewarding adventures, but at the same time, it can be filled with frustration, unforeseen problems, and delays.  With guidance from our professional team, we can ensure your home-building process will deliver the best possible experience. More importantly, while not only saving you headaches and heartache, we also believe we can save you thousands of dollars.

I have been in commercial construction in the Milwaukee area for over 30 years and am the owner of both Ware Design Build and our commercial, parent company, Venture Construction Group. Over the years, Venture has built a few homes and remodeling projects for our commercial clients. In addition, I built two custom homes for my family. During the design/build of my current home, I realized that the Milwaukee area was lacking residential builders who provide custom home designs at a competitive price. You can get a luxury, custom home, but you will undoubtedly pay a premium for it. I felt there was a market for custom-designed homes, built with quality and integrity, at a fair price.  Our custom home prices are very close, or perhaps only slightly higher, than many of the cookie cutter, production builders that mass produce the same home designs over and over.  There are also very few home builders offering the transparency that the commercial construction industry provides. Commercial construction contractors provide line-item breakdowns of the project costs, including their overhead and profit.  Residential builders typically do not provide cost breakdowns, and their fees are buried within their pricing structures. My vision for Ware Design Build was to offer full custom home design build services while operating with the transparency of a commercial construction company. Ware Design Build provides line-item breakdowns, by division, of all costs associated with your home, and openly shows you our job site supervision and our fees.

With our design-build process, beginning with our initial meeting, we make a connection with our homeowners, openly discuss our fee structure, and demonstrate our competency. As a result of this, Ware Design Build very seldom is ultimately bidding against other builders. This allows us to give our homeowners a very focused service. My recommendation is to connect with a home builder you feel you can trust, like, and respect. Then work together addressing your needs and concerns, and putting focused energy into working through the details of your new custom home.
